Bay d’Argent heads the market for the 11.35am juvenile maiden at Lyon-Parilly today and looks a penalty kick having finished second to subsequent listed winner Strako last month at this course.

Priced at 5/6, his price doesn’t get the heart racing and preference is for Philippe Decouz’ well-touted son of Zoustar, Kizmambo at 12-1.

Kizmambo was beaten five lengths on debut at Saint-Cloud but ran with a fair amount of promise. He travelled well through the first part of the race, if a bit green, and then his run flattened out in the final couple of furlongs. He was a 135,000 gns yearling and if he can take a step forward today, as you’d expect him to, he can be competitive in this grade.

11.35am Lyon-Parilly – 1pt win Kizmambo @ 12-1 (all firms)

The 12.05pm feature at Lyon is a Class 1 contest where most eyes will be drawn to former Race Sharp winner Pervade, in the Juddmonte silks. Francis Graffard’s miler was just touched off by Missyouni on his last start and a reproduction of that will probably be good enough to take this.

Favourite Indian Wish drops in grade but this is her eighth start of the year and she carries a penalty.

Katoucha has also been highly-tried and she’s my bet at 4-1. She dropped in grade to win at Vichy on her last start following a break and it was encouraging that Fabrice Vermeulen said afterwards she was only half fit.

She relishes any cut in the ground and comes here fresher than most and with Maxime Guyon in the saddle. Assuming she steps forward on that Vichy win, it will be tough for the front two in the betting to concede weight to her this afternoon.
