Plenty of good action in Europe today but away from Newbury there are two flat races at Lyon-Parilly that should prove to be informative.
Trainer of the moment Christopher Head won a brace of maidens yesterday and is fancied to bag the Listed Prix Bedel in style at 4.17pm. Sabio Cen was considered a Prix du Jockey Club hope last spring but was kept off the track for most of the year. Despite a Group One reverse on his last start, connections retain faith in Sabio Cen as he is still viewed as a long term prospect for the Prix de l’Arc. He should have far too much in hand of Fenelon.
4.17pm Lyon-Parilly – 2pt win Sabio Cen @ 3-1 (generally available)
The Coupe des 3 ans is a nice springboard for late-maturing middle distance horses. Francis Graffard won this with Erupt in 2015, before going on to bag the Group One Grand Prix de Paris two months later. Graffard’s Gallerist has looked impressive on his last two starts but this represents his toughest test yet.
Jerome Reynier’s Amelielympique has 1lb in hand on weight adjusted ratings and she is worth siding with in this. Reported in season last time when stepped up to Group company in Paris, Reynier had been targeting her at Marseille Borely next month but the fact she is supplemented here is a vote of confidence. A shorter journey from her Calas base to Lyon will also help her put her best foot forward.
5.27pm Lyon-Parilly – 1pt win Amelielympique @ 5/2 (generally available)
