Under an hour until the juvenile contest at Marseille-Borely this morning, so I’ll keep this brief!

5/4 favourite Patisse represents the most ‘powerful’ local connection in the race but the yard had a well-fancied juvenile well-beaten in the first 2yo race of the year at Lyon days ago and Patisse’s pedigree hints at being better over much further than today’s 1000m.

Christophe Escuder has a good record in this race and in the press he gives his preference for 11/4 Amore Mia, but at a much longer price I’m backing Dyna Chope at 13/2.

Well-drawn in gate one, Dyna Chope is bred and owned by ‘Mr Early Speed’, Alain Chopard. Sire Guitafan didn’t set the world alight in the UK but in the context of French stallions, his stock are getting good reports and he sired the winner of that Lyon race – also a filly. Crucially the dam of Dyna Chope imparts precocity, two of her siblings were deemed forward enough to make their debuts in the coveted Prix du Premier Pas at Chantilly, a springboard for blacktype juveniles and another was a juvenile winner in the provinces.

The pedigrees don’t look very strong here and I wouldn’t be surprised if Dyna Chope makes all. Patisse looks an awful price, so I’ll also play exotics with Amore Mia.
