Pornichet Tips and Racecourse Guide
Pornichet Racecourse is a flat and trotting course located a short walk from the centre of the popular seaside resort on the west coast. It is one of the most modernised courses in the provinces but still benefits from the relaxed family/holiday atmosphere that you come to expect in France.
The left handed flat course is not too dissimilar from Marseille-Vivaux in the south – the loop measures 1428m (seven furlongs) with a home straight of 340m (1.5 furlongs). The polytrack surface is floodlit and the racing can go on late into the night.
Provincial jockey Alexandre Roussel is the man to follow when he rides here. He has over 1000 wins to his name and over 100 of those have come at Pornichet.
Bettors who wish to extend their experience can check out the Casino de Pornichet which is a short walk from the course. It has sea views and plenty of neon lighting.
In 2019 Lambourn trainer Archie Watson sent over juvenile filly Mrs Dukesbury to rout the opposition in a maiden, scoring by four lengths under Hollie Doyle.
The three-year-old maiden at Pornichet this afternoon should not take a lot of winning. The second favourite, Winter’s Magic, is a Camelot filly that is winless in 12 attempts and although she’s been tried in handicap company before, her record would suggest that she is flatted by a mark of 33.5.
Street Feel dropped like a stone on debut at Chantilly and Ptit Pedro was flattered by his fourth at Le Lion D’Angers – which came almost a year ago now.
All the signs are pointing to Christophe Ferland’s filly Miss Cosy, who ran a great second on debut to the hotly-touted Sea Of Ash. With the experience on her side and stretching out another half furlong, she holds very strong claims in this race and rates as a bet.
RECOMMENDED BET: 5.55pm Pornichet – Miss Cosy win @ 6/5 (most firms)

How to get there
Seaside resort Pornichet is not the easiest day trip. It takes 3 hours to reach Pornichet by train from Paris. The TGV from Paris Montparnasse to St-Nazaire takes just under that time and then it is a 10-minute transfer to Pornichet by the local TER train service, which will be scheduled to meet the TGV.
Nantes airport has commercial flights from the UK and is 60km from Pornichet.

Seven of the three-year-olds in the Pornichet feature this evening at 6.25pm were winners last time out, so something has to give! Favourite Le Noyer has been handed a poor draw in nine and looks vulnerable to something drawn better with a bit more experience. His...
The mile maiden at Pornichet is far from the strongest of contests and Poliana looks to hold outstanding claims of getting off the mark at the third attempt. Both starts have come over course and distance. Runner-up on her debut at the end of December, she took a...
Low-grade fare at Pornichet this evening, but there is a bet in the third division of the 1m4f handicap, with Miengo worth supporting at a big price. The six year old won here last January off just 1lb higher, on what was his first attempt over this trip on the AW. ...
I like the look of one at a big price in the 2yo fillies' maiden at Pornichet today (5.45pm), with O'Monorie a really interesting contender on her first start for Edouard Monfort. Previously with Charley Rossi, she couldn't have been more clueless on debut, completely...
Even for the grade, the 3yo, 1m4f handicap at Pornichet today (4.02pm) looks really weak and presents Sudden Death with an excellent chance of getting off the mark at the second attempt for his new connections. A winner over this trip at Wissembourg back in May for...
Just Light did well to win a Pornichet maiden earlier in the season, despite getting no luck at all in the run. He showed a bit of promise in a race that wasn't run to suit on his recent comeback at Deauville and he is quite closely matched with today's favourite on...
The second at Pornichet (2.35pm) is a big-field maiden over an extended mile, so plenty of opportunity for trouble in running. However, I think Rhoda's Choice is too big a price and, despite her wide stall, is worth supporting. A well-bred filly, she showed ability...
