Yoann Bonnefoy has made a quiet start to the year, but a Quinte success earlier on today’s Saint-Cloud card will have give the team a boost and I’m hoping further success awaits in the second division with El Roy.

Like Bonnefoy’s Quinte winner, El Roy has had a couple of runs already this year down in Cagnes, running well for a long way on the first occasion, and shaping better than the result suggests when seventh last time.  He wasn’t helped by coming wide into the straight (the action unfolded towards the far side), but it was a fair effort and he wasn’t beaten far.

This is a slight drop in grade, he comes here race-fit and in search of a second career success, his only previous win having come in a claimer over 100m further here last April on his final start for Jean de Meuille.

The mark of 30.5 is undoubtedly workable, Thomas Trullier maintains the association and the 25-1 in offer is attractive.

3.45pm Saint-Cloud – 1pt win, 0.5pt place El Roy @ 25-1 (various firms, 33-1 with Paddy Power, Betfair)
