Nuance kept the winning streak going with a wire to wire success at Chantilly and so we head to boggy Saint-Cloud this afternoon for a fantastic card.

The Group Three Prix Edmond Blanc at 3.25pm is a race that is often run on soft ground given this time of year, but a fast surface last year tipped the balance in favour of Wally, who defeated both the 2019 winner The Revenant and Duhail in a memorable edition.

The three re-oppose today and I do think that The Revenant will be hard to beat after he defeated Midtown by three lengths at this track on his reappearance.

Duhail is a horse I’ve followed for a while but he lacks the X Factor in this field. Old friend Wally came to this race last year after two wins at sunny Cagnes-sur-Mer but has been off the track since September and might just prefer a faster surface. The ground concern also applies to recent Qatar (local) Group Two winner Pao Alto.

There is one in here that can definitely trouble the established order of older French milers and that’s Sibila Spain.

Trainer Christopher Head has saddled four winners from his last ten runners and his Frankel mare looks ready to let rip from stall one. The confirmed front-runner tries a new distance today after she tired late on in the Prix de l’Opera when last seen. It looks a wise move and at the prices she is definitely worth chancing this afternoon.
