The top three in the betting for the 4.35pm maiden are all representing top Chantilly stables and have form closely tied together – all three ran in behind Jerome Reynier’s Facteur Cheval on debut – who went in again yesterday at Lyon-Parilly.

Unibet have no view and are 2-1 co-favourites on the three of them. Copper ‘won’ their race but Carini is arguably the best-bred of the trio and Nikovo had looked useful when hosing up in a schooling race beforehand.

Whilst it’s true that these Parisian maidens can take quite a bit of winning, the percentage call is to oppose all three of them and hope for a jackpot return.

Vis Le Reve represents the Henri-Alex Pantall yard – one that has performed well for Race Sharp this spring. He was a €300,000 yearling and despite racing three-wide at Lyon-Parilly last month, he arguably ran a career best. This will be his fifth start but he promises to be thereabouts and appeals as a spoiler at 7-1 this afternoon. He’s closely related to Sussudio who achieved a career best at the age of six and this family can run – Swoosh hosed up on debut and half-brother Souzak placed on his juvenile debut this week.

Surely Pantall could have found an easier maiden than this or opted for a handicap off 35.0. He must think a bit of him still to persist in this company.

RECOMMENDED BET: 4.35pm Saint-Cloud – Vis Le Reve 7-1 (generally available or 15/2 with Coral and Ladbrokes)
