Salon de Provence Tips and Racecourse Guide

Salon-de-Provence is a racecourse in Southern France that plays host to flat and trotting races. Often dominated by local trainers from Calas such as Jerome Reynier, the town of Salon-de -Provence is also particularly noteworthy as being the final resting place of astrologer Nostradamus and also the home of the French equivalent of the Red Arrows, the Patrouille de France.

Salon-de-Provence first raced back in 1882 and continues to be a popular local racecourse. The turf course for flat race is a seven furlong circuit and the grandstand can sit up to 2,500 spectators. For the best racing experience, make sure you book the panoramic restaurant, which is always the best place to set up camp and have a few bets.

There are six flat meetings each year and the owner to follow closely with his distinctive orange silks is Jean-Claude Seroul.

Fabrice Vermeulen has two three-year-olds entered in the Summer classics and it bodes well for Kingsale in the next race that his stablemate Dancing Queen (Diane-entered) was able to win a similar maiden in the provinces last month with Aurelien Lemaitre on board.

Lemaitre had no rides at the track last year and tends to stick to the Paris tracks and surrounding regions, so it is significant that he travels to the Marseille region this morning.

Kingsale is a full brother to French 1000 Guineas winner Dream And Do and was a €150,000 buy back from Arqana. He’s had a few entries and he probably doesn’t need to be that smart to win today.

The trainers of Pierrepont and Never Leave have poured cold water on their respective chances this morning and given that the selection is by Siyouni, he really does look a lock for at least a top 3 on soft ground today.

Salon-de-Provence Horse Racing Tips Today – 24/09

There has been 20mm of rain at Salon-de-Provence and the ground has turned heavy.  It's a tricky card, but one that looks a shade too big is dual course winner Pedro Del Rio in the 1m1f handicap (10.50am).   The seven year old is an infrequent winner, but he did...

Christophe Escuder enjoyed an across-the-card double at Saint-Cloud and Lyon Parilly yesterday and I’m hopeful he can enjoy further success at Salon-de-Provence today with Wasachop. The five year old has tumbled in the weights since scoring at Marseille Borely in...

French Racing Tips – 27/05

The 1m4f maiden at Salon de Provence is a moderate contest, with the 7/4 favourite Happy Harry having already had nine attempts and rated just 31.  He looks sure to run his race and is still the one to beat on form, but at a big price I like Kobido. A scopey daughter...

The opening newcomers' contest at Salon-de-Provence features three from the Reynier and Vermeulen yards, but we'll take a chance on Field Of Glory at a big price. Philippe Cottier has a considerably bigger string this season, inheriting a lot of the 'Rossis', and they...

Jean-Claude Rouget is 5-8 at Salon de Provence this year and he has a couple of good chances today, including with Perle Bleue. She shaped nicely enough when fifth on debut over 1m1.5f at Bordeaux at the end of October, one place behind Amalgame, who made much of the...
