There is little strength in depth in the opening two year old maiden at Strasbourg (9.50pm), as one might expect in the provinces at this time of year, and Zefania is an attractive bet at the prices.

She has already shown a liking for the track, having won over 7f here on debut in September, where she came from some way back and finished really strongly.  Her only subsequent run came in the €200,000 sales race at Baden-Baden a month ago.  She fluffed the start that day and couldn’t lay up early on, but finished to really good effect and would’ve been third in another few strides.

The step up to 1m2f should suit this daughter of Maxios, whose dam was a multiple winner at around this trip, and this represents a drop in grade.  The yard are going well at present (Tres Rock Women ran very creditably at Saint-Cloud yesterday) and this test should suit.

9.50am Strasbourg – 1pt win, 0.5pt place Zefania @ 5-1 (some 11/2 available)
