Another captivating afternoon is in store for fans of French racing with three Listed contests at Toulouse and the great jumping mare L’Autonomie strutting her stuff at Auteuil in the Grade Two Prix Leon Rambaud.
I’m heading to Toulouse for my best bet of the afternoon and hope that Henri-Alex Pantall can be a lucky trainer for us once again after his Sasakia narrowly won a conditions race for this column a week ago.
2.32pm Prix de Borély – Prix Actu Toulouse
Jerome Reynier’s Tour d’Echelle is looking for her handicap win having finished in the runner-up berth on her last two starts in this company, including over this C&D. At 5/2 she is priced fairly though and there is one that I like at a longer price.
Rosa Parks, Hedwig and Beyond My Dreams have all recently been penalised between 2kg and 3kg respectively for recent handicap wins and at the other end of the ratings band I think it’s worth giving a chance to once who is plummeting in the weights.
Henri-Alex Pantall’s Forza Capitano has dropped 7kg in the ratings in the past 12 months and has hinted at a return to form. The seven-year-old gelding is no doubt regressing but was a huge eye-catcher over this C&D at the start of this month, beaten under a length despite encountering all sorts of trouble in the home straight.
Drawn wider today, if he is ahead of his mark I hope his new pilot Mickael Barzalona will be able to come with a run down the middle of the course.
2.32pm Toulouse Forza Capitano 1pt win @ 7-1 (William Hill, QuinnBet, Fitzdares, Pari Match and generally available, or 15/2 with bet365)
