The 2021 edition of the Prix du Jockey Club on 6 June 2021 was won by Aidan O’Brien’s talented colt St Mark’s Basilica.

The Siyouni colt benefitted from a dream trip from stall two and was able to pick up the leader Normandy Bridge with two and a half furlongs remaining.

St Mark’s Basilica scored by one and a quarter lengths over fellow superstar juvenile Sealiway, with Millebosc in third also upholding local honour in the placings.

The victory gives Aidan O’Brien a first in the race, and the colt also becomes the first to complete the French Guineas / Prix du Jockey Club double since Lope De Vega in 2010, who currently stands at stud for €125,000.

Looking ahead, races like the Juddmonte International, Irish Champion Stakes, Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe and Champion Stakes will likely be under consideration after he is given a small break in July. Sky Bet reacted to the win like many bookmakers by going 10/1 from 20/1 for the Prix de l’Arc.
