A cracking weekend’s racing in France and I like the look of one at Chantilly this afternoon (5.27pm).

Golden Call has had two runs over 1m7f back from a break, but 1m4f is his trip, the better ground is in his favour and he is capable of running a big race back in class 2 company, at which level he is unbeaten in his two starts over this trip.

He won on his latest start here, over this trip last June off a handicap mark of 42.5 and was subsequently second at Listed level at Lyon Parilly.  That form is as good as anything on offer here and it’s fair to say his main rivals, at least on ratings, have something to prove.  Devil In The Sky didn’t look the most straightforward on his reappearance at Lyon and, though he is entitled to come on for that (Yann Barberot’s are generally running better now), he looks far from certain to run to his mark of 44.  Haptics was last seen pulling up over hurdles and is entitled to come on for this, as is Guet Apens, who is also on reappearance.  He showed smart form at times last year, but he was winless and he might lack the tactical boot for this trip on drying ground.

Golden Call knows how to win when on song and looks a bet at 11/2.

Recommended Bet: 5.27pm Chantilly – 1pt each-way Golden Call @ 11-2 (all firms, except 6-1 WillHill)
