The last race at Auteuil this afternoon is a conditions hurdle for five-year-olds over an extended two miles.

The field includes a number of progressive steeplechasers who are making their returns to action, including the 71-rated Grade One winner from last season, Le Listrac.

A number of these will not be tuned up for today and so it is worth taking a chance on Hugo Merienne’s Henri Le Farceur at 10-1.

Merienne has his string in good order, evidenced by a winner at Fontainebleau yesterday and he holds the Hunters Light gelding in high regard.

Henri Le Farceur will strip fitter for his March return in a Quinté where he finished down the field at a short price with James Reveley on board. The useful Dylan Salmon takes over today and claims a handy 3kg allowance.

Of those to have run this campaign, it helps our chances that Musikaa has been scratched and recent winning hurdler Battle Wish is surely in deep here on what is his Auteuil debut, priced at 16-1.

5.10pm Auteuil – 1pt each-way Henri Le Farceur @ 10-1 (Generally available and four places are on offer with Sky Bet and Coral)

At Le Lion D’Angers this afternoon, there has been a big word for the Yann Barberot juvenile Once Upon A Time in Race Four. Unfortunately it looks like the bookmakers are also aware – he has opened up at 6/4, despite being unraced!
