Some trappy contests on the early mixed card at Bordeaux, but I think Fan Of Sea is a well-handicapped horse off a mark of 53 in the 2m4f handicap hurdle and he is worth backing.

A really useful performer in AQPS bumpers, winning a Gr.2 at Saint-Cloud in 2018, he has kept some very good company and run some good races in defeat over hurdles. Four of his seven outings have come at Auteuil, and a literal reading of his 5L fifth in a level-weights conditions race there in September suggests he is thrown in off his current mark away from the Paris tracks, as the first two that day were the smart Fox Trot and Bebe D’Or.

He has run just once since, when seventh back at Auteuil just under three weeks ago.  Again, it was a level-weights contest and those in front of him were rated a minimum of 58.5.

The booking of James Reveley catches the eye, Fan Of Sea has been supplemented for this race and though they are still light on winners, the yard is going a bit better of late after a tough 2020.

1.15pm Bordeaux – 1pt win Fan Of Sea @ 7-1 (Paddy Power, Bet Victor, Betfair, Betfred, Betway)
