One bet at Chantilly today, with Cazalla making plenty of appeal on handicap debut.

The daughter of Archipenko has had three runs in maidens, finishing in midfield on both outings last year over a mile, before a staying-on third upped to today’s trip of 1m4f at Pornichet on her seasonal return in March, where she would surely have finished closer still (though wouldn’t have won) with a better run.

Adrien Moreau has been on board for all three runs to date (0-21 this year), but Olivier Peslier takes over for the handicap debut today and there could be plenty of improvement to come after just three starts.  Her dam got off the mark at the third attempt for these connections and went on to place in Listed company, while her half-sister Villa Marina took five goes to get off the mark, but ended up winning the Group 1 Prix de l’Opera later that season.  Laffon-Parias has trained the whole family, with the granddam to win at Listed level over this trip.

She’ll need to up her game a little to beat a couple that are higher in the weights today, but there isn’t a great deal of strength in depth to this and she is overpriced to find the necessary improvement.
