I don’t think the 1m2f fillies’ maiden at Pau (12.30pm) is much of a race and Artemiss stands out as an overpriced contender.

The Philippe Sogorb-trained filly was green on debut over course and distance in early December, but would’ve finished closer than her staying-on seventh had she not encountered some trouble in running in the straight, so it was a performance that can be upgraded.

That is also very much the case for her second start, over 1m3f at Cagnes a month ago. That came on very soft ground, and she made most of the running and looked to have the field in trouble a furlong from home.  She took a significant false step and faded late on, but she once again showed plenty of ability.

A half-sister to Miss Cleopatra, who was runner-up at Listed level for these connections in 2021, she will be suited by the return to the All-Weather, has a good draw in stall 4 and represents an in-form yard.
