3.20pm Saint-Cloud

The French turf season gets underway at Saint-Cloud today and we have one bet on the card; Theatro, who is having her first run for trainer Paul de Chevigny.

The five year old mare has been sent by her owners to de Chevigny, along with the four-year-old sister Queen Of Camelot.  It is a strong page, as they are half-sisters to the classy middle-distance performer Lord Yeats, while the dam was herself a useful stayer.

Theatro showed a decent level of form in the UK last year for Jedd O’Keeffe, placing in handicap company off a mark of 77, a repeat of which would be more than enough to see her go close here.  She goes particularly well when there is ‘soft’ in the going description, with career figures of 11324 on good to soft/soft ground.

We are taking a chance that she is fit and ready to go on her French debut, but de Chevigny’s runners at the Paris tracks last year generally went very well and this really doesn’t look the strongest of races.  She also ran really well on her reappearance last year and will stay every yard of the 3100m trip.  At the prices, she is certainly worth chancing.

1pt win Theatro @ 12-1 (Bet365, 11-1 WillHill, BetVictor, Betfred, Betway)
