The second division of the 2m handicap hurdle at Compiegne (1.05pm) looks pretty weak, despite the numbers, and I’m going to give Aedisia another chance.

I put Laurent Viel’s filly up when she ran over fences at Angers last time and I thought she travelled as well as anything through the race, only to find less than expected when coming under pressure on the run-in.

Still, it was a creditable effort on her first start for two months and the yard continue in good form (which can’t be said for a lot of these), with a winner and five places from their last nine runners.  Aedesia is 0-9 in her career to date, but I’m confident there is a race in her off this mark of 55 and her trainer has always thought her capable of being a bit better than this level.

Eric Lecoiffier’s Little Winner is another at a price that could go well, while towards the head of the market, Anca’s connections have supplemented for the race (and I’m told, turned down a reasonably sizeable offer for one of her ability recently).

However, I think Compiegne will suit her (it is also a positive that her yard does well here and is 8-56 in the past three seasons) and hopefully she can shed her maiden tag today.

0.5pts each-way Aedisia @ 12-1 (Paddy Power, Betfair, Betfred, all 1/4 4 places).
