A low-grade card at Saint-Cloud today and we head to the 1m2f claimer (1.35pm) for our bet, with Dobra an attractive price to record a second career success.

A maiden winner over 7.5f on the AW at Chantilly in October, she finished third on her return in a claimer over this trip at Fontainebleau. She travelled really well that day, but had too much ground to make up on the front pair, who were prominent throughout.

I would forgive her a below-par run at Chantilly last time, where she was caught out wide with no cover, and I think she’ll be seen to better effect now back on turf.

Carlos Laffon-Parias is in blistering form, with seven winners from his last 16 runners, and he has been using Arthur Mosse’s claim to good effect, with the apprentice scoring on his last three rides for the yard.  Dobra has just 51kg today, so she looks a bit of value getting so much weight from those at the top of the market.

1.35pm Saint-Cloud – 1pt win Dobra @ 8-1 (all firms, though 17/2 with WillHill)

Later on the card, T’Bolt looks an each-way bet in the claiming handicap (2.35pm).

He won twice at this trip last spring off marks of 32 and 33.5, before losing his way in the second half of the season.  However, he is really well-handicapped on the best of his form, as he was only just touched off in a Quinte at Nantes last June off a mark of 36.5, 5kg above today’s mark of 31.5.

I thought he ran very respectably on reappearance at Compiegne just over three weeks ago on what was his first start in a claimer, when short of room for a fair bit of the home straight before staying on nicely in the closing stages.  This looks a good spot for him and the yard is going well.

2.35pm Saint-Cloud – 1pt win, 0.5pt place T’Bolt @ 8-1 (all firms, though 17/2 4 places with Skybet)
