6.30pm Cork

A high-quality card at Cork is the highlight of the Irish racing today and we have two selections.

The first is the Joseph O’Brien-trained Sistine Madonna, who returns to handicap company after hacking up in a Gowran maiden last time out. This is an interesting 7f fillies handicap but off a mark of 83 Sistine Madonna could be thrown in after clearly needing her first run of the summer in Killarney.

The ground didn’t help in that occasion either and she is unexposed compared to the majority of her rivals. Last year’s champion apprentice Dylan McMonagle takes the mount and he’s more than capable of guiding this filly to a second career win from a plum draw in stall 1.

The second bet on the card is the Johnny Murtagh-trained Cairde Go Deo, who has taken her form to a whole new level this season with the step up in trip to a mile and a half working a treat.

She beat yesterday’s Group 3 winner Boundless Ocean at Leopardstown before going on to run a blinder in the Irish Oaks where she was third beaten less than 4 lengths. A repeat of that form would see her bang there today and the price looks generous.
