The first of today’s Irish selections runs in the 7f handicap at the Curragh (7:10pm).
The James McCauley-trained Godhead could make it second time lucky for the yard this evening.  He ran really well on his first start for his new connections at Leopardstown last week.  He tried to make all the running on that occasion and looked the winner until the last few strides over the mile, having had to get across from his wide draw.  He nearly slipped his field that day and it certainly looks like he has been revitalised of late.  He’s well drawn in stall 3 to adopt the same front-running tactics and the drop back to 7f could see him get his head in front.

RECOMMENDED BET: 7:10 Curragh – Godhead each-way @ 8-1 5 places (Fitzdares, Ladbrokes, Coral, 8-1 6 places with Skybet, 15/2 5 places elsewhere)
We head north to Downpatrick for the next selection, where Nuttorridge looks like he can make it back-to-back wins in the 2m7f handicap chase (7.20pm).
He was having his second start of the season and just his third run over fences when scoring over CD last time, comfortably seeing off the re-opposing School Lane.  Though he has gone up 7lbs, I thought he had a good bit in hand.  Downpatrick is a unique test and one that clearly suits the selection, who has won twice and finished third and fourth from his five starts at the track.   Philip Enright, who rides this chase course very well, retains the partnership and they should make a bold bid to follow up the recent success.
Recommend Bet: 7:20 Downpatrick – Nuttorridge win @ 4-1 (all firms)
