The two 80-95 handicap hurdles at Kilbeggan this evening both look tricky, as one would expect for big-field, low-grade handicaps, but with plenty of firms betting to five places, it is worth chancing Moyode Lady in the first division (5.37pm).

She doesn’t have the best of strike-rates (1-27), but that applies to all of today’s rivals and this looks a really weak contest.  She has only had three runs so far this term, two of those coming over an inadequate trip and then the latest of them a rare outing over fences.

She is on a good mark on her best form over hurdles, now 7lbs lower than when runner-up to an in-form rival over this course and distance last October, and had previously finished runner-up on two other handicaps starts last summer on good and yielding ground.  Interestingly, she is also declared for a handicap chase at Wexford tomorrow.

James Nash has had a couple go close in the last week and unless the money comes for top-weight Believe That (handicap debutant for a yard that can land a punt), this looks a really good opportunity.

5.37pm Kilbeggan – 1pt win, 0.5pt place Moyode Lady @ 14-1 5 places (Skybet, Paddy Power, Betfair, Unibet, Betfred, Boylesports)
