Today’s Irish tip runs in the 6f Premier Handicap at Naas this afternoon (5.35pm), in which the Fozzy Stack-trained Thunder Eclipse makes plenty of appeal.
He bolted up over in a course and distance maiden last August that worked out nicely, receiving a mark of 95, and backed that up with a good second at the Curragh.
I thought he ran a cracker in the Listed Committed Stakes at Navan on seasonal reappearance last time, where he travelled well and wasn’t beaten far by higher-rated rivals.
Though this is a highly-competitive Premier Handicap, it does represent a drop in grade, given he can run off his actual mark, and the booking of apprentice Danny Gilligan, who claims 10lbs, is an eye-catching one.  Conditions today look to be ideal and it is well worth noting that Stack has targeted this race in the past – he had the runner-up last year, and provided both the first and second in 2019 – Stack also made use of an apprentice’s claim that year, with Andrew Slattery taking off 7lbs.   The yard is in great form and Thunder Eclipse looks set to run a big race.
Recommend Bet:  5:45 Naas Thunder Eclipse each-way @ 9-1 4 places (most firms, 11-1 5 places with Bet365)
