The rain has arrived in Limerick and that will boost the chances of Ramiro, who ran a race full of promise at Listowel last time and looks overpriced to gain a third career success in the 7f handicap this afternoon (1.35pm).

The five year old won twice over this trip on heavy ground late last summer on his first two starts for this yard – though he had previously gone close on good ground, he is clearly at his best with give underfoot.  Below that level on his final outing of 2020, he started back over an inadequate 5f on good ground in May, but there was a lot to like about his staying-on fourth behind the smart Galtee Mist (a winner again since) a month ago over an extended 6f and the return to this trip is a plus.

The draw in stall 1 is another positive and I’m confident there are more wins in him off this sort of mark.

1.35pm Limerick – 1pt win, 0.5pt place Ramiro @ 11-1 4 places (Betfair, Paddy Power, Boylesports, 10-1 4 places with WillHill, Skybet, 888sport)
