Mercury Lane has built up a solid profile in four starts since returning from a long absence after his sole run in an Irish point in May 2019 and he could provide the Paul Nolan yard with a welcome winner at Thurles today (4.10pm).

The seven year old son of Stowaway went close on his hurdling debut over 2m at Tramore in December and improved on that form when filling the same position over 3m at Cork last time. The winner that day, Velvet Elvis, had previously run to a good level at Fairyhouse and goes in the Rated Novice Hurdle earlier on today’s card.

That run certainly showed Mercury Lane is continuing to progress and a six-week break since that effort is a plus.  Out of a half-sister to the top-class, three-time Grade 1 winner Mikael D’Haguenet, he is capable of a big run today and looks an excellent each-way bet.
