Arc weekend is fast approaching and I’m hoping we can start the countdown to Sunday’s big race with a winner at Chantilly this afternoon.

There are a few that can be ruled out of the 1m1f claimer (1.47pm) and I like the chances of Allisto King.  His sole win to date came with Demuro in the saddle, with the Italian back on board for the first time this year.

Allisto King was running well in the spring, including on very soft ground at ParisLongchamp, consistently performing to his mark of 33.  A couple of lesser efforts in midsummer were followed by an encouraging run back at ParisLongchamp last time, finishing fifth in a handicap off 33, despite not getting the clearest of runs in the straight and eventually making his challenge on the far rail.

A repeat of that latest effort gives him the beating of his rivals today – he is 3kg and upwards better off with all the field than if this was a handicap.  The drop in trip is no concern and he is too big at 11/2.

1.47pm Chantilly – 1pt each-way Allisto King @ 11/2 (most firms, 6-1 with Bet365 and WillHill)
