It will be interesting to see if Female Approach runs again at Limerick today (3.35pm) after winning at Fairyhouse last night, but without her it doesn’t look much of a race and at a huge price, it is worth taking a chance on an improved showing from Queen Amanirenas.

The daughter of Holy Roman Emperor had three quick runs in maidens in the space of three weeks, finishing last on debut but taking a small step forward on her next two starts.  Her eighth of 14 at Gowran when last seen five weeks ago suggested she could be competitive in low-grade handicaps.

Today is her handicap debut and it is worth noting her yard’s recent record with similar types, having had four winners on handicap debut alone last year, quite a feat for a small yard. Though they are yet to have a winner in 2021, their horses have been running well of late, so I’m not worried on that front.

She’ll need to take a step forwards again on the form she showed last time, but this is a lowly starting point in handicaps, the step up in trip could well bring about some improvement and, at 80-1, she is worth chancing.
