Aquila Volante sets a good standard in the opening race at Lyon-Parilly today but is priced accordingly at 5/6.
He is vulnerable to another improver and doesn’t have the simplest of tasks given he is drawn in 10. This race involves a long sweeping left-handed bend, so he will either need to break very smartly (as stakes filly Lova did over C&D a year ago) or tuck in and beat the field for a turn of foot in the home straight.
Cape Cannon showed up well on debut at Chantilly in a warm race and is taken to win this. His trainer is already saying that he needs every yard of today’s 6f trip and he showed enough early speed last time to suggest he will have the favourite in trouble at the top of the straight (based on his lower draw here). Graffard’s other two juveniles to hit the track have won, which augurs well for Cape Cannon today.
