Today’s rides at Chantilly
I’m very confident about Investor‘s chances in the opening Quinté handicap. Though we are switching from the AW to the turf, that won’t be a problem on his previous form and he really seems to be progressing (this will be just his fourth start for Stephane Wattel) and I think he can win today.
I ride Dream Love in the two year old maiden for Ed Monfort. He always has his horses very well-prepared for their debuts and it is a very precocious family – the dam was a 5f Listed winner at two and her dam had already run eight times as a two year old by the end of June! I’m therefore confident that he has the profile to be very competitive today.
I won on Elegant Art over 2100m here last time, but she faces a tougher test now, having been raised 2.5kg by the handicapper for that win. Still, it looks a good spot for him and I’m very hopeful he will reach the frame at the very least.
Mon Ciel Etoile ran really well to finish second here last time and he really likes the course (form of 2511002 in handicaps here), so I am expecting another good run, even though this is a slightly tougher race than last time.
LAST WEEK’S TWO TO FOLLOW
Normandy Bridge really needed to get started and considering the conditions weren’t really in his favour, I was pleased with his seasonal reappearance at Deauville (4th in the Group 3 Prix Djebel).
I’m sure that run will bring him on plenty and I am looking forward to riding him again next time, which I imagine will be over a mile.
I was delighted with the debut of The Promise at Deauville (finished second in a 7f maiden). She showed plenty of ability, a good attitude and wasn’t beaten far. A well-bred daughter of Siyouni (her granddam Truly A Dream won the E. P. Taylor Stakes at Woodbine in 1994 for Robert Collet), she looks sure to progress.
