He takes the brave mans route aboard Normandy Bridge and lands the Group 3 Prix Thomas Byron at Saint-Cloud! 🇫🇷pic.twitter.com/sZVfVZ9TKb
The above video of Normandy Bridge winning the Group 3 Prix Thomas Byron Jockey Club de Turquie at Saint-Cloud in October went viral, with Bachelot bringing the son of Le Havre all the way to the stands’ side rail and just getting up on the line to deny the Francis Graffard-trained Homeryan.
Runner-up to Van Gogh in the Group 1 Criterium International at Saint-Cloud, the Stephanie Nigge-trained three year old makes his reappearance at Deauville today, and Bachelot had the following to say about him his morning;
“It will be great to get him started again and it looks a good place to return, to then give us something to build on.
1400m and good ground are unlikely to prove his best conditions, but he can work with some of the speedier ones at home and given he can race enthusiastically, it makes more sense to start him back over this trip and then step up in due course.”
Bachelot is also optimistic of a bold show on debut from Stephane Wattel’s The Promise, a daughter of Siyouni who holds entries in the Poule d’Essai Des Pouliches, Prix Saint-Alary and the Prix de Diane, while later on the card he rides Gordian, who makes his handicap debut for Doris Schoenherr off what looks a very workable mark of 32.5 (72 UK).
