The Grand National was fantastic and a great result for the sport of horse racing. We’ve had a light dusting of snow today but no problems. It should help take the jar out of the ground at Windsor later, where I will be heading.
Zhui Feng (3.20pm, Redcar)
I’m hoping he will be in the placings, if he can win even better. Off his old form he is very well handicapped. He ran better than his finishing position suggested last time and there is more to come from him, especially back on turf, up to a mile.
Capote’s Dream (3.40pm, Windsor)
Mick Appleby’s has been well backed but I am hopeful with Capote’s Dream off OR 81. He has won his last two on the all weather so today will be a different proposition back on turf. He is in great form at home and should be bang there. I’ll be delighted if he can win and we will learn a lot more about him today.
Of my four today, I’d say he’s our best chance of a winner.
Roman Mist (4.10pm, Windsor)
She has been working really well at home. She has a nice draw and the mile at Windsor should suit her. It’s a competitive race, six or seven have strong claims, but fingers crossed she should run a nice race for us.
Red Flyer (4.25pm, Redcar)
It’s a competitive race, despite the five runners, but the further he goes the better he will get. The 1m2f on a nice galloping track will really suit him and lets hope he can outrun his position in the market
This will bring him on for the season and we will continue to step him up.

Tom Ward broke into the training ranks in 2019 following four years as assistant to Richard Hannon and had somewhat of a transition period throughout last year whilst his yard was being finished.
Coming into the spring of 2021, it is clear that Tom has a good team and set up at home, with his horses running consistently well.
We are delighted that Tom has agreed to a regular slot on Race Sharp this year and his blog will be updated midweek every week, with his thoughts on his forthcoming runners out of his Upper Lambourn base.
If you have any questions for Tom, or would like to make a riding enquiry, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with the Race Sharp Team via the contact form below.
