Susan Corbett has her small team in cracking form at present and I’m hoping Les’s Legacy can give her another winner at Newcastle this afternoon (12.30pm).

He has built up a bit of experience for a four year old, particularly one that is National Hunt-bred, and he ran a good race in defeat when fourth at Hexham in November.  On his latest outing at Musselburgh, he was 11lbs out of the handicap, but he actually ran better the result suggests.  For a start, I don’t think that’s his track, but he lost ground when the favourite unseated that day and could never really work his way back into the race under his 7lbs claimer.  However, he did finish off to good effect from the last.

The yard do really well here and I think the track should suit very well.  Though it could just be coincidence, I wouldn’t be surprised if this has been the target for a little while, given the dam won this race for the same connections back in 2017.  Back in a 0-100 and racing off his correct mark, he looks a good bet.

12.30 Newcastle – 1pt win, 0.5pt place Les’s Legacy @ 11-1 (various, 12-1 in places)
