The four year old chase at Fontainebleau (10.50am) doesn’t have anything in the way of star quality today, but I like the look of Apple’s Pierro, who is an attractive each-way bet at 13/2.

The son of Martaline is a half-brother to the exceptional Apple’s Jade and though he won’t be emulating his illustrious sibling’s achievements, he has shown more than enough to suggest he is capable of winning races this term.

Fourth at Auteuil over hurdles in the autumn, he has since shown an aptitude for chasing in Pau and a short break since will surely have done this scopey sort plenty of good.  His pedigree suggests there is plenty more to come this year and he is overpriced to shed his maiden tag today.
