The top two in the market are both strong in the 1m2f handicap at Leicester this evening (6.45pm) and a case can be made for both, but at a bigger price I am taking a chance on Tiki Fire, who has the potential to rate higher than her current mark in time.

The daughter of Awtaad is a scopey filly and wasn’t finishing off her races last season, but she showed promise on more than one occasion and that was again the case on reappearance on good to soft ground in May, where she would’ve finished a little closer with a clearer run.

I really liked the way she travelled through the race over this trip on good to firm ground at Nottingham last time and though she didn’t immediately pick up for pressure, she was staying on again at the line.

It was a performance that suggested she is still progressing, her mark is now down to 69 from an opening 72 at the beginning of last month and the in-form Karl Burke has booked a very capable 5lbs claimer.

6.45pm Leicester – 1pt win, 0.5pt place Tiki Fire @ 14-1 (all firms, 16-1 available with Bet365)
