A really competitive sprint handicap, but at a big price we’re backing Nomadic Empire. The four year old has not been firing on all cylinders this year, but could have won with a better run on reappearance off a 7lbs higher mark. However, he didn’t run too badly here last time and it’s noticeable that he has been at his best in the second half of the last two campaigns.
He won here off 4lbs higher last September and hopefully the first-time visor can spark a revival. He got no run when finishing in midfield in this last year, but is well-treated if getting the breaks. David O’Meara hasn’t had much luck in this race, with numerous placed horses in recent seasons, but hopefully Nomadic Empire can get his name on the scoresheet here.

Andrew Balding’s two year olds have been in flying form of late and he can enjoy Group success here courtesy of Chaldean.
A rare yearling purchase into the Juddmonte ranks, the son of Frankel is bred to make a high-class 2yo. Fifth on debut at Newbury, he beat a host of subsequent winners when scoring at the same course next time, including the second, third and fourth home.
The only Dewhurst entry for his powerful yard, Chaldean looks a strong each-way selection today.

3.00pm York
It has been a relatively quiet year for James Ferguson, but he has two live chances in the Group 2 Great Voltigeur and at the prices, El Bodegon is hard to resist.
A Group 1 winner last year, he finished runner-up in the Prix du Jockey Club in June, beaten by subsequent Eclipse hero Vadeni. He had Modern Games back in third that day, who went on to finish second to Baaeed in the Sussex Stakes.
The fourth at Chantilly, Al Hakeem, won the Group 2 Prix Guillaume d’Ornano at Deauville on Monday, while the fifth, Onesto, landed the Group 1 Grand Prix de Paris next time (El Bodegon in third).
He prefers slightly softer ground, but this track can play to his strengths and double-figure odds are too big.
3.00pm York – El Bodegon win @ 14-1 (most firms)
