Dawn View ran her best race for some time when runner-up in a small-field contest here last time and is fancied to go one better today (1.00pm).

An easy winner here at Brighton on reappearance in April, she lost her form off higher marks thereafter, but went well for a long time over 1m2f on her latest start, and the winner went on to score in a higher grade under a penalty next time.

The drop back to a mile will suit and she has an experienced apprentice on board for an in-form yard.

The Gary Moore-trained Big Bard hosed up on his only previous start at Brighton last October and now back down to a very workable mark, he should take all the beating in a weak race this afternoon (2.40pm).

He hit form last autumn and that course success came by over 6L and off a mark just 2lbs lower than today’s.

He was a good fifth on his return from a two-month break on the All-Weather last time and is a confident selection today.

2.40pm Brighton – Big Bard win @ 5/2 (most firms, 11/4 in a place) (NAP)
