The Grade 1 Jewson Anniversary 4-y-o Juvenile Hurdle at Aintree (2.20pm) hasn’t produced a shock winner for a while, but I think this course will really suit the Dan Skelton-trained Too Friendly and he is worth backing at a big price.

Like many by the sire, he has his quirks, but Camelot has had a few high-class juvenile hurdlers and the way in which he went through the race in the Boodles suggests Too Friendly has the ability to rate a good bit higher than his current mark of 126.  It’s interesting that connections feel it’s worth risking his mark to run here.

He is 12lbs worse off with Brazil on that running, as well as having nearly 5L to make up, but he did very well to come from as far back as he did that day.  That was his first run back from a wind op and I wouldn’t be surprised to see him build on that effort here.

Skelton has his team in excellent nick heading into what is a very important few days at Aintree for the yard and with conditions to suit, Too Friendly is overpriced to give Skelton a first top-level success since his Grade 1 double at this meeting last year.
