Only three runners for the 2m4f handicap chase (2.20pm) and with race fitness on his side, Muckamore might be able to record a third win of the season over fences.
He is tactically versatile and has run well in cheekpieces the last twice, winning at Leicester before a second to the improving Nocte Volatus at Huntingdon last time. That form has been franked, with the winner just getting touched off at Sandown Park under a penalty the following week.
The Twiston-Davies team are in good order and hopefully Muckamore can put the recent match practice to good use.
RECOMMENDED BET: 2.20pm Ludlow – Muckamore win @ 2-1 (all firms)
The hunter chase that concludes today’s Ludlow card (5.15pm) features last year’s winner Zamparelli, but he is likely to struggle to reel in Wagner, who should be suited by this track, has conditions in his favour and should prove tough to beat.
He beat a couple of useful rivals when scoring over 2m5f on good ground at Hereford in January, which was a smart performance. He wouldn’t have beaten Adrien Du Pont if that one had stood up at Wincanton at the beginning of the month, but that one is a very useful performer on his day, and there were some decent ones in behind.
Beau Morgan’s 7lbs will come in handy and evens looks fair.
RECOMMENDED BET: 5.15pm Ludlow – Wagner win @ evens (most firms)
