Flying Verse looked back to form on his first start since a wind op when runner-up at Stratford last time, and he can go one better at Bangor today.

He was racing off a mark in the 90s for the first time since 2018 when just denied on his latest outing.  Though he is 4lbs higher now and this represents a step up in grade, all bar Go On Chez have questions to answer, and that rival is up in the weights after two wins earlier this summer.

Flying Verse won this race last year off a 5lbs higher mark under Brian Hughes, who is riding at the top of his game.  Flying Verse’s two other course runs came over hurdles, with a win and a head second, so he clearly loves it here.

The handicapper has given Courtandbould a real chance and though there wouldn’t be many trainers fancying their chances of improving off Fergal O’Brien at present, Dan Skelton will be keen to do just that.

The eight year old was rated 141 at his peak in 2020, and has conditions in his favour.  A recent wind op could well bring about a return to form, and he is now 23lbs lower in the weights than when third on a return from a short break at Doncaster last November.
