Ayr Tips and Racecourse Guide
One of five racecourses in Scotland, Ayr is the jewel in the crown of Scottish racing and has a busy and varied racing programme throughout the year, both on the flat and over jumps.
The course was moved to its current location in 1907 and a jumps track was added shortly after the second world war. In 1966, the Scottish Grand National was transferred to Ayr, firmly establishing Ayr as the leading racecourse in Scotland.
The two main meetings of the year take place in April (Scottish Grand National Festival) and September (Ayr Gold Cup). The course also plays host to the Group 3 Firth Of Clyde Stakes, as well as five Listed races on the flat. Over jumps, the feature Graded races are the Future Champion Novices’ Chase and the Scottish Champion Hurdle, both of which are Grade 2 contests.

UK Racing Tips – 03/05
Tim Vaughan sends three on the long journey to Ayr and Isle Of Aron looks to hold strong claims of shedding his maiden tag in the first division of the 2m4f handicap hurdle.
He has been mixing it over hurdles and fences of late and has reached the frame on his last two starts, the latest of them over the larger obstacles at Ffos Las just over a fortnight ago.
He is on the same mark for today’s assignment, in what looks a weaker race. Stable jockey Alan Johns is on board and the first-time cheekpieces could spark a bit of improvement.
