There has been racing at Chester since 1539, making it the oldest racecourse still in operation anywhere in the world.
The Roodee plays host to highly competitive racing throughout the summer, in front of packed crowds.
Chester remains one of the most popular racecourses in the country with racegoers and the May meeting, which is a three-day affair, features the prestigious Chester Cup, a handicap run over 2m2f. There are also two notable Classic trials; the Chester Vase and the Cheshire Oaks, the latter proving the springboard to greatness for Enable, who went on to win the Oaks at Epsom on her next outing in 2017.

German raider Loft won at Group 2 level in his native country in May, beating a very smart field. He has since gone on to win impressively at the same level in Belmont and the son of Adlerflug can make light of his 7lbs penalty here.
His form is head and shoulders above that of his rivals and though the three year olds could improve, he should take this on his return to action.
