Donnacha O’Brien’s Nicest ran really well to finish third at 33-1 for us yesterday and I’m hoping he can do us another favour in the Albany (2.30pm), with Elliptic worth supporting at double-figure odds.

She was well-supported on debut over 5f in April and easily accounted for Quick Suzy (who won the Queen Mary), despite missing the break and having to come from last to first.  It was a little disappointing she couldn’t follow up at the Curragh next time, but I really liked the way she travelled through the race and am hoping connections had just left something to work with with this race in mind, as she hadn’t run for six weeks.  The winner also looks potentially very smart.

Her sire has already got a black-type winner on the board, courtesy of soft-ground French Listed winner Dizzy Bizu, and hopefully Elliptic can provide him with further success.

2.30pm Royal Ascot – 1pt each-way Elliptic @ 10-1 4 places (Ladbrokes, Bet365, Coral, Boylesports)
