UK Horse Racing Tips – Friday 10th September

A fascinating card at Doncaster and some quality supporting action at Sandown Park and Chester this afternoon. We have four selections, two at Doncaster and two at Sandown Park.

Tip 1 – 1.40pm Doncaster

This is a cracking race stacked full of horses with a lot of potential. You could make a strong argument for any of the top six in the market. Although more exposed than some of his rivals, Find looks like he is progressing as he gains experience. His form is rock solid. He has form with some of the top proven juveniles.

It took him four attempts to get off the mark but he looked a lot more tractable and professional last time at Yarmouth. He looks like a relentless galloper and will likely stay further in time. He will sit prominently and hopefully get some of his less experienced rivals out of their comfort zone. Versatile in regards ground, John and Thady Gosden have their horses in blistering form so I’d expect Find to take another step forward.

1.40pm Doncaster – Find 1pt win 15/2 general

Tip 2 – 2.30pm Sandown Park

There was little doubt for me, personally, that The Turpinator was the best horse in the Kempton race where he finished second last time. In fact, I’m still not sure how he didn’t manage to win. Nevertheless, and irrespective of that, it was a huge run after an extended absence. He was giving away for the weight-for-age concession plus a penalty and only narrowly denied by a progressive, and well-bred, three-year-old.

If he replicates, or indeed improves for that effort, then he has a huge chance today. The doubt is the second run back after a significant absence and whether he can back that up. Those concerns are invariably factored in to the price. He is yet to race on turf but his family is littered with smart turf performers. It’s not necessarily relevant but his smart half-brother, The Grape Escape, was effective on turf and had a great record at Sandown.

This is competitive but The Turpinator offers a decent shade of value on his handicap debut.

2.30pm Sandown Park – 1pt win The Turpinator 10/1 general

Tip 3 – 3.00pm Sandown Park

For a horse with lots of ability, Jack’s Point has a disappointing win record. However, he’s often run in some of the strongest handicaps but he is too well treated to ignore now.

He’s never raced off a mark this low and showed much more zest over this course and distance last time. Courses like Ascot and Sandown Park suit him well and he was a good third in this race last year off 9lbs higher. Connections’ reach for headgear and if that gives a boost then he has the ability to go very close. There doesn’t appear to be too much pace on here and Jack’s Point could get a nice sit early and adopt his favoured tactic.

3.00pm Sandown Park – 0.5pt each way Jack’s Point 11/1 general

Tip 4 – 3.45pm Doncaster

This looks an ideal opportunity for Chairmanoftheboard to get back in to the winners’ enclosure. His run at Thirsk last time indicated that he was back in top form. He hit trouble at a critical point in the race and the winner controlled and made all. His momentum got checked a few times and didn’t get out in to the clear until well inside the final furlong.

Chairmanoftheboard ran on strongly once in the clear suggesting he’s primed to strike. He’s now 1lb below his last winning mark. This track and extended 6f should prove ideal and it will be disappointing if he doesn’t go very close.

3.45pm Doncaster – 1pt win Chairmanoftheboard 9/2 general
