UK Horse Racing Tips – Sunday 12th September

The Sunday Series has been a fantastic addition to the calendar this summer. It makes a pleasant change to have competitive flat racing on a Sunday regularly as opposed to low-grade summer jumps cards. We have four bets today, three at Haydock and one at Musselburgh.

Tip 1 – 4.35pm Haydock Park

A fiercely competitive 6f sprint and plenty with solid claims. Macho Pride posted a career best when scoring over course and distance in July. That was off a 4lb lower mark and if replicating that effort, then he has strong claims in this event. He then posted two moderate efforts at Ripon following that run but got firmly back on track returned to Haydock just over a week ago.

The drop back to 5f probably counted against him and the step back up to 6f will suit. He was doing all of his best work late on and clearly enjoys and indeed excels at this course. There should be a solid pace on here and remains fairly treated. Conditions look ideal and he appears to be a solid proposition.

4.35pm Haydock Park – 1pt each way 10/1 5 places general (some 11/1 available)

Tip 2 – 5.20pm Musselburgh

Despite the small field, this is a fascinating race featuring a number of highly progressive young stayers. Ravenscraig Castle probably brings the single best piece of form to the table with his excellent third in the Melrose. However, I’d have Vino Victrix as favourite personally. His progression has been rapid since upped to staying trips and I feel a 4lb rise for his latest victory at Kempton underestimates him.

There is a plethora of stamina in his pedigree and, in time, he could well make up in to group performer over staying trips. The Sandown victory worked out well and despite the Kempton race not being the strongest, he couldn’t have done it any easier.

5.20pm Musselburgh – 1pt win Vino Victrix 9/4 general

Tip 3 – 5.30pm Haydock Park

Another competitive race and I think Flaming Lord is the best handicapped horse. The son of Zarak has been improving with every start and I’m sure a mark of 76 underestimates him. He caught the eye behind the smart Power Of Beauty at Yarmouth on his penultimate start. I think he took another step forward at Nottingham last time. He travelled beautifully and if you pause the race 2f out, such as the manner he was travelling, the question you ask there is how far does he win by?

He was ultimately outstayed by a progressive Andrew Balding inmate but finished clear of the remainder. Give how he travelled, the step back in trip looks a positive and it would be disappointing if he didn’t go close on nursery debut.

5.30pm Haydock Park – 1pt win Flaming Lord 11/2 general

Tip 4 – 6.55pm Haydock Park

Emaraty Hero is well treated and escapes a penalty and he has a huge chance. I’m not convinced, however, he wants this trip and the prices I much prefer the claims of Snowalot. His form since upped to 1m6f is solid and the extra two furlongs, on running style, could well extract further improvement. The 4lb raise for his victory at Goodwood certainly doesn’t look prohibitive and he looks particularly solid.

6.55pm Haydock Park – 1pt win Snowalot 10/3 general
